What We Do
Advanced Photonic Crystals, LLC ("APC") produces and markets laser-active and non-linear optical (NLO) crystals for the solid state laser industry. Our proprietary, low-temperature hydrothermal crystal growth process allows us to offer crystals of superior performance, and to create new crystalline materials for high power markets. We are dedicated to helping the U.S. solid-state laser industry stay ahead of the foreign competition.

Advanced Photonic Crystals, LLC
-
NLO Crystals
APC produces superior NLO crystals that are critical for achieving very specific and extremely challenging operational performance in many industrial and government laser applications.
-
Military Applications
APC produces several types of specialized NLO crystals that are needed for a large number of U.S. military applications, including chem-bio detection, directed energy weapons, and missile guidance.
-
Research and Development
APC is constantly experimenting with producing new types of NLO crystals using the hydrothermal growth process. In some cases, these are crystals that previously could not be manufactured by other crystal growth methods.
About Us
Established in March, 2002, APC is a U.S. solely-owned manufacturer of crystals for the diode-pumped solid state laser (DPSSL) industry. The Company's crystal technology is licensed from Clemson University. Dr. Joseph W. Kolis, Dept. of Chemistry, Clemson, is APC's Scientific Founder. APC occupies a 3300 sq. ft. facility, with offices, R&D labs, and 15 hydrothermal crystal growth machines. All of APC's crystals are grown on-shore in the U.S.
Why Advanced Photonic Crystals?
APC is committed to maintaining the highest level of quality possible in every facet of what we do--from the raw materials we use, to the custom-designed autoclaves we manufactured to precise specifications, to the proprietary hydrothermal growth process that brings it all together. The result are the best performing NLO and Laser crystals available on the market anywhere today. (Click here to view a KTP spec sheet)
